Student Registration

The School District of the City of York utilizes the Sapphire K12 system for all registrations. 

1. Student is moving to the SDCY for the first time.

2. Student is returning to SDCY from another district.

3. Student is returning to SDCY from an alternative placement (RiverRock, Philhaven, Bridges, etc.).

4. Student is requesting to enroll in the Bearcat Academy Cyber School from In-Person Instruction.

5. Student is requesting to return to In-Person Instruction from Bearcat Academy Cyber school.

6. Parent is Requesting a Transfer of the student to another building within the SDCY.      

7. Parent is requesting enrollment in the Pre-Kindergarten Program.

If you are using Chrome Browser, an Iphone or Ipad, you can use the google translate feature to translate the entire application to which ever language is preferred. For questions regarding registration, or if you cannot upload the documents, you may take a clear and readable picture of each document and email it to the District Registrars: 

Pre-K Registration Details:

Parents MUST complete the full Online Registration, choosing 2024/2025 as the enrollment year. If your child attended the PreK Counts program through the School District of the City of York, there is no need to complete an online application. Your child will automatically be enrolled into Kindergarten. 

Children MUST be 4 years old by August 31, 2024

Families MUST meet specified income requirements to qualify

Parents MUST upload the following required items to the registration portal: 

  • Birth Certificate of Child

  • Parents Photo ID

  • Proof of Address (lease or utility bill)

  • Immunization Records

  • Proof of Income (Paystub, Social Security statement, SNAP Benefit Notice)

You must have all the required documents uploaded for your application to be considered for approval.

Kindergarten Registration Details:

Registration for the 24-25 school year will begin on March 1st, 2024. All children who will be five years of age on or before August 31st, 2024 will be admitted to Kindergarten. Children who will be six years of age prior to August 31st, 2024 will be admitted as first graders during the first two weeks.

Sandie Walker

Hello Bearcat Families! My name is Sandie Walker, and I am extremely excited to be working with you From being a Bearcat alum, coaching the girls varsity basketball team, and serving in various community roles, I have sincere ties and connections to our District and the City of York! As the District Title 1 Parent Liaison, I want to be the bridge of communication between our schools and your homes. Please know that it takes exceptional staff, informed and engaged families, and engaged community members to create the best possible learning environment for our students. It is an honor to have the opportunity to assist you as you work with your child at home. Family engagement is important to me! Greetings Bearcats! My name is Madeline Torres Ocasio and my native language is Spanish. I am passionate about working with students and their families. For the last two decades, I have been fortunare to be part of the York City School District and its community. My mission is to restore communication between the school district and our community by informing parents and asking for feedback about the school policies and offering parents numerous workshops and chats about topics of their interest. I believe that family involvement in our schools is an essential practice to help students reach their academic goals. I am here to listen to your deas, help you with your concerns, as well as guide you if you wish to become a school parent liaison at your child's (children's) school(s).
